Maybe this was done back then but I don’t want to read it in my romance novel where I’m escaping from reality!! Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. While she has many acquaintances, and most of the ton loves her, she has few friends. Thanks for introducing me to this author, and a big thanks for the giveaway. I absolutely loved this book. When Yern discovers why Jack wanted to marry her, she flees his estate and calls off the wedding.
I truly enjoyed this book.
Petals In the Storm. Further crimes of miscommunication ensue followed by bouts of truly reprehensible behavior that would have many a modern day man becoming quite familiar with his living room couch apparently, we have lost our appreciation for rakes somewhere along the way, ladies and, another suitably fun, though not, to be fair, spectacular, novel takes its due course. Jack goes on an abbreviated bender before realizing there’s something he can do and fixing the problem with Mary.
A Lady’s Point of View: Our heroine is rich and emotionally vulnerable can I get an amen from the unscrupulous males out there?

I was surprised I felt so happy when they got together and the last scene was worth reading the whole book for. When Jack discover that Canduce is rich he decided to court her or seduce her whatever it takes as henr as Mary became his wife, Both have been heartbroken in the past and when they take the decision to get married none of them wants to give the other their heart no knowing chage you don’t have any power on this partthe heart choose whom to love. Unfortunately, he inherited a mountain of debts along with the title, and believes his only option is to marry an heiress.
I had hopes, it started well Lady Mary and Jack forming a friendship. As they progress down her long list of possible young ladies, Lord Pemerton finds plausible reasons to eliminate many of them: Pure is the Heart.

Overall, it was an excellent and engaging romance full of funny, sharp dialogue, and beautiful Regency-era descriptions.
