There are some sad parts, like when Willie and Cracker get separated, and there are some very happy parts, like when Rick and Cracker get along. At first they go through training and meet some new people.

This book is one of a kind, bu it shows how much loylaty a dog has. While undergoing training, they slowly begin to trust each other – because if they don’t then it could cost both of them their lives.

This book was amazing! He would be sent back home for recovery but where was Cracker? The one scene in which Cracker is separated from the unit and is lost in the jungle and seemingly cannot find her way back had me sobbing with her dismay and panic and desperation.

I think this is a very well writte This was the first book that I read with my kids and we all crackeer cried. Willie is a boy who loves his dog Cracker. It’s just a cyntha and sad book all in one about Willie the first owner of the dog having to live without Cracker because his parents are sending Cracker to Vietnam. That is exactly what Rick and Cracker do throughout the book. This book is very emotional and I nearly cried in the 3 last subject it is so sad.

I can also make some text-to-self and text-to-world. Although the author remains politically neutral in telling her tale, she does acknowledge war protesters’ attitudes and deftly conveys the way Rick’s own feelings about the war change over time.
