Jul 25, Kezia rated it it was amazing Shelves: I love the way de Sade sets justian ditribes and orations. And if you liked Justine, you may be sorry to hear she has a cameo in Juliette. This is not a book for someone with a weak stomach. One expects a novel written on the subject of libertinism.
Juliette is better read with some insight into the life of The Marquis, which isn’t quite what most save would have you to believe. A retelling in contemporary terms, is The Turkish Batha novel published by Olympia Press, allegedly by Justine and Juliette Lemercier in an autobiographical format.
Firstly, this book is a tough read, due to the incredibly disturbing sexual violence.
